YES:THE FRAGILE JAPAN TOUR 2026

YES will return to Japan for the first time in two years, performing in four cities nationwide in September 2026.
This tour marks the 55th anniversary of the release of their album Fragile, and will see the band once again revisit their long-running “album series”, performing the album in its entirety.
Originally released in 1971, Fragile is a defining work that highlights the individuality of each member through solo compositions, while ultimately bringing these elements together as a cohesive band statement. This “deconstruction and reconstruction” approach not only clarified YES’s innovative musical direction, but also established the album as a cornerstone of the global progressive rock movement.
The hit single “Roundabout,” which charted in the United States, gained renewed recognition in Japan when it was used as the ending theme for the anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in 2012.
“Heart of the Sunrise” has also been widely featured in film, television, and commercials, including Vincent Gallo’s Buffalo ’66 (1998).
Through these cultural touchpoints, YES’s presence and recognition in Japan have grown significantly, leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
The touring lineup features Steve Howe (guitar), the longest-serving member of the band, alongside Geoff Downes (keyboards), who performed with Howe during the Drama era and later in Asia; Billy Sherwood (bass), who has been associated with the band since the 1990s; Jon Davison (vocals), who joined in 2012; and Jay Schellen (drums), who assumed the role following the passing of Alan White in 2022.
For a band known for its frequent lineup changes, the current formation—now the longest-standing in YES history—makes this revisit of Fragile particularly significant.
Centered around Steve Howe, the only remaining member from the album’s original recording, the performance is expected not merely to recreate the original sound, but to reinterpret each piece with a contemporary perspective.
In addition to performing Fragile in full, the setlist will also feature selections from YES’s most celebrated period, including works from Close to the Edge, Relayer, Going for the One, Tormato, and Drama.
Songs from more recent releases will also be incorporated, offering a rare opportunity to experience the band’s extensive musical journey in a program.
Above all, the chance to witness Steve Howe—now 79 years old—continuing to perform on stage will be a special moment for Japanese audiences.
For new listeners, the performance promises to be a revelation; for longtime fans, an emotional and unforgettable experience.
Celebrating the 55th anniversary of Fragile, this tour will once again demonstrate the enduring power of what has often been described as “the world’s smallest orchestra.”
